- Plans, organises and coordinates the production and marketing of flowering and foliage plants, taking into account environmental and market conditions
- Selects and purchases seeds, seedlings, bulbs and flower plant stock, fertilisers, and other supplies required for flower and foliage production

- Directs and oversees the harvesting, packaging and transportation of flowers and foliage
- Plans and coordinates the sale, purchase and dispatch of flowers and foliage
- Plans and oversees the provision and maintenance of flower and foliage farming infrastructure, such as equipment, machinery, sheds, and water supply and irrigation systems
- Maintains and evaluates records of flower and foliage farming activities, monitors market activity, and plans production accordingly
- Manages flower farm business capital, including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management
- May select, train and supervise flower farm staff and contractors
